In fact, hydrophilic nonwoven fabric is the opposite of hydrophobic nonwoven fabric. Hydrophilic nonwoven fabric is produced by adding hydrophilic agent in the production process of nonwoven fabric, or producing hydrophilic agent on the fiber to produce hydrophilic nonwoven fabric.
Why do we need to add hydrophilic agents?
This is because fibers or non-woven fabrics are polymers, and the hydrophilic groups themselves are few or no, and cannot achieve the hydrophilicity required for the application of non-woven fabrics. Therefore, hydrophilic agents are added to increase their hydrophilic groups. This hydrophilic non-woven fabric uses ordinary polypropylene spunbond non-woven fabrics that have been hydrophilically treated, and has good hydrophilicity and air permeability.
Hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics are mainly used in sanitary products, such as diapers, paper diapers, and sanitary napkins. They can penetrate quickly and keep dry and comfortable. It can be said that their application in our lives is very common!
Next, we will introduce the four commonly used products.
1. Infant(baby) diapers
The upper and lower surfaces of the water-absorbing layer of infant diapers are made of hydrophilic non-woven fabrics, which makes the surface of the diaper soft like cloth and has good water absorption effect.
2. Adult diapers
The role of hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics in adult diapers is basically the same as that in infant diapers. In comparison, the production requirements of hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics in adult diapers are lower than those in infant diapers.
3. Masks
Good quality masks have a layer of hydrophilic non-woven fabric inside the mask to absorb the water vapor exhaled from the mouth. A more intuitive effect is that in winter, we often see some friends who wear glasses will form a layer of white water vapor on their glasses when wearing masks, which greatly affects their vision. This is because the mask is not equipped with hydrophilic non-woven fabric.
4. Pet urine pads
Usually used to prevent pets from urinating and defecating anywhere and placed in pet resting places, the urine pads are also made of hydrophilic non-woven fabrics. This type of hydrophilic non-woven fabric is relatively simple to make and has relatively low standards, mainly highlighting its hydrophilic function.
