The role and usage of nonwoven of agricultural fabrics

As a new type of covering and insulation material, non-woven fabrics are used in greenhouse vegetable production and have achieved good economic benefits.

Advantages of non-woven insulation materials

1. Insulation: The transmittance of non-woven fabrics to long-wave light is lower than that of plastic films. Because the heat dissipation in the night radiation zone mainly relies on long-wave radiation, the covering insulation effect is outstanding.

2. Breathable and humidification: Non-woven fabrics are made of filaments stacked together into a mesh, with a high porosity, breathable, water-permeable, and automatically adjust humidity.

3. Shading and cooling: Covering with colored non-woven fabrics has a shading and cooling effect. Non-woven fabrics of different colors have different shading and cooling effects. The shading effect of black is better than yellow, and yellow is better than blue.

4. Anti-aging: Agricultural non-woven fabrics have undergone anti-aging treatment. The thicker the fabric, the lower the strength loss rate. After application practice by vegetable farmers.

Agricultral nonwoven Application

Non-woven fabrics are mainly used in greenhouse vegetable production in the following aspects:

(1) Used as a “second layer” of insulation material at the bottom of straw thatch. Many greenhouses are not only covered with straw thatch, but also have a layer of non-woven fabric added to the bottom of the straw thatch. According to vegetable farmers, by adding a “second layer” of insulation material (non-woven fabric), the insulation performance of the greenhouse can be significantly improved, which is 2℃-3℃ higher than simply covering with straw thatch, which is beneficial to the growth of vegetables. In addition, the use of non-woven fabrics in greenhouses using roller shutters can also protect the straw thatch and extend its service life.

(2) Used as a rainproof material on the back wall of a solar greenhouse as a “slope protection” Use multiple pieces of non-woven fabrics to sew together to wrap the entire back wall and fix it with steel wire to reduce heat loss from the back wall; it can prevent rain and snow and protect the wall; it can cover and weed, reducing the number of pests and diseases that enter the greenhouse.

(3) Other applications: In the production of early spring watermelons in greenhouses covered with multiple films, the non-woven fabric can be directly covered on the small greenhouse inside the greenhouse, which has an outstanding effect of heat preservation and cold protection.
