Types of non woven fabrics –Ⅲ

◼️ Air-laid Paper ( Air-laid Nonwoven)

Air-laid Paper nonwoven

Process flow:

*Wood pulp fiber + hot melt fiber → air-laid → thermal bonding reinforcement → non-woven material

*Wood pulp fiber → air-laid → spray adhesive → drying → non-woven material

*Wood pulp fiber (air-laid) + conventional fiber (combed into a web) → spunlace reinforcement → drying → non-woven material

Performance and Usage:

Medical sanitary materials, especially highly absorbent disposable sanitary products (such as diapers, sanitary napkins, wet face towels, wipes, etc.), are characterized by good fluffiness, soft hand feel, better wet strength and wear resistance than paper, and super moisture absorption performance. When wood pulp fiber is used as the main raw material, it also has the advantage of biodegradability, which also provides convenience for waste treatment.

◼️ Wet-laid Nonwoven

Characteristics of wet laid nonwovens:

  • High production speed, up to 400m/min
  • Can make full use of short fibers, such as those below 20mm in length
  • Almost unlimited mixing of fibers of different qualities
  • Good uniformity of product web
  • Weaknesses: large water consumption, high one-time investment, and large-scale use required to support production capacity

Product applications:

◼️ Specialty paper: dust/liquid filter paper, tea bags
◼️ Industrial use: filters, insulation materials, sound-absorbing materials
◼️ Medical use: medical backing, medical tape, surgical bag wrapping materials
◼️ Civil use: wallpaper, etc.
